What I Read Wednesday


The latest book that I (Mackenzie) have finished is 365 Thank Yous: The Year a Simple Act of Daily Gratitude Change My Life by John Kralik (it's a true story). It begins with John being down on his luck. He's going through a divorce, his law practice is suffering, he lives in an apartment that he hates and is having financial troubles. John decides to start a project where he sends out one thank you note a day for a year. After starting this he begins to see how his good fortune is coming back to him. Money he loaned out and never thought would be repaid is suddenly returned to him, friends take him out for lunch when he's low on money. Not only do special things start happening but the project also makes him more aware of all the "ordinary" things that he has, that he hadn't appreciated. Writing the thank you notes caused him to be more aware of things like how hard his assistant worked to make his life easier, and even the positive things his ex-wife did, like planning a special birthday party for their daughter.

365 Thank Yous is a quick easy read that makes you sit back and think about your own life. After finishing the book it definitely made me aware of all the good things I had been taking for granted as well. I would suggest you reading it!
