Happy Thursday

I've had this shirt since the summer, but had a hard time finding something to pair it with. It's actually a really long tunic that I just tucked in. This necklace is one of my favorites. I bought it while my husband and I were in Las Vegas. It's from Forever 21 but looks vintage.

What I Read Wednesday

The last book I (Michele) read was "Dwarf" by Tiffanie DiDonato. This is a true story of a girl born with a form of dwarfism. As a child Tiffanie stood at 3'8" and wasn't expected to grow any taller. She was unable to reach her own ears because her arms were so short. Today she is 4'10" because of radical bone lengthening surgeries. She had these surgeries so she would be able to function without help in the world. Tiffanie endured a series of painful surgeries and is determined to push the limits.

This is a very moving story of a girl who was told something was impossible and refused to accept it. This is sometimes difficult to read as they tell about the pain she endured, but I would recommend it!

Ok, so I started using my camera again. Now that we're moved though, I'm going to have to find a good spot in the house to take it. And I still have to figure out the lighting. Anyways, here's what I wore to church yesterday. Happy Monday!

1. My mom and I made this cute Pinterest craft over the weekend. It turned out great!

2. I got this fun book from my Grandma for Christmas. What Not to Wear is a great show and I love Stacy's personality and sense of humor. I've really enjoyed reading it!

Buy here.

3. Friday night was a girls night out. We went to the mall, out for supper and ice cream and painted pottery. What a great time :)

4. Do you read Ann Voskamp's blog A Holy Experience ? If you don't know who she is, she is the author of that wonderful book One Thousand Gifts. I ran across this blog post of hers yesterday. Take a minute to read it. Gives you some really good things to think about.

5. Here's Drake, one of my favorite dogs, while we're hanging out at lunch together :)

What I Read Wednesday

I just finished another wonderful book: Defending Jacob by William Landay. Over Christmas break I was at the library and found it at their book sale for $2. My mom had read it last year and really liked it so I was very excited.

This is an excellent book! The chapters were fairly short and moved quickly so it was hard to put it down. This story is told from the dad's point of view. He is the DA for his town and starts investigating a murder of a local high school student. He is taken off of the case after evidence starts to point towards his son. I won't give anymore away.

I would highly suggest that you go pick this book up!

Brrrr

Ok, when I left the house this morning the temperature was 9 degrees! Brrr. Good thing I borrowed this really cute sweater from my mom yesterday. It's also very warm.

On another note, I think I need to go back to using my actual camera, not just my iPhone camera. By the time I'm ready to take an outfit picture in the morning, the sun is shining right into the full length mirror in my bedroom, which makes for a really crappy photo. So hopefully from now on I can get my act together and make time to take real pictures!

4. I haven't had Starbucks since Christmas!! Where we live now, Starbucks is out of the way on my drive to work. I made an exception for it this morning though. I've missed my Cinnamon Dolce Latte's. (And that adorable coffee cozy was made by my mom)

Another repeat

I love this sweater and get a lot of compliments on it every time I wear it. I don't really know how else to wear it though. I can't think of anything besides this denim button-up to put on underneath it. Any suggestions?

What I Read Wednesday

This is by far the best book I've read this year. The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe is a true story about a son (Schwalbe) and his mother who start a book club while she's taking chemotherapy. The book club is pretty informal and just contains the two of them. They read new books but also old ones that they love. It is a wonderfully written book that chronicles not only their book club but his last months with his mother.

I really enjoyed hearing about all of the different books they read together. So many of them I'd never heard of and look forward now to reading. I would definitely suggest reading this book! I'm so glad my parents got it for me for Christmas.

What I Read Wednesday

I was so excited when I got this book for Christmas. I have been wanting to read J.K. Rowling's new book for adults for quite a while. The Harry Potter series are such wonderful books that I just knew I'd love this one too.

At first I was a little disappointed with this story. It's basically about a man who passes away suddenly who is on a local council for a small town and how it affects different people in the town. So the story is told from several different points of view, there is no main character. After I got into the book a little more though, I liked it more and more. I did feel like though it was essentially about nothing, but her writing is still great and her cast of characters were diverse and fun.

Although it's not one of my favorite books, it was a good one that I wanted to finish and see how she was going to tie everything together. I think I picked up the book with such high expectations of it being about some big, great thing that when it wasn't, I was a little disappointed. But I would definitely recommend it to someone.
